River cruise & city game – Discover the heritage of Amersfoort
On Saturday 18 April, experience Amersfoort in a way you won’t soon forget. This isn’t your typical walking tour, and it’s far more than an ordinary boat trip. It’s a carefully curated day out combining maritime heritage with the rich history of the city itself.
Your day begins aboard the historic vessel De Bolivar, followed by an immersive adventure through the old town with our interactive city game, City Detective Amersfoort. It’s where history and play meet.
Step aboard a living monument
At 11.00am, you’ll be welcomed in the Eemhaven and invited aboard De Bolivar, a listed historic ship in her own right. Your morning begins in relaxed fashion with coffee, tea, and cake as we prepare to set sail.
As the bridge opens and we gently cruise along the River Eem towards Eembrugge, you’ll see Amersfoort from an entirely different perspective. For centuries, this waterway was vital to the city’s trade, transport, and development and today, it offers a peaceful and picturesque setting for your journey.
During the cruise, you’ll enjoy:

- Views across the River Eem and surrounding landscape.
- Coffee, tea, cake and a generous lunch with freshly prepared rolls.
At around 2.00pm, we return to the harbour and the focus shifts from water to city.

Once back on shore, your adventure continues with City Detective Amersfoort: The Fugitive Art Thief.
Armed with your smartphone, you’ll set off into the historic centre to solve a mystery. As you crack clues and gather evidence, you’ll uncover listed heritage, tucked-away alleyways and iconic landmarks that bring the story of Amersfoort to life.

The route covers approximately 3.5 kilometres and takes around two hours to complete. You’re free to pause the game whenever you like, perhaps for a drink or to take a closer look at somewhere that catches your eye.
